We are delighted to have been able to provide this support, thanks to your kind donations, but the requests for support currently outweigh our remaining funds so we are asking for your help. All £1,000+ donations are acknowledged on our ‘wall of thanks’ outside Willow Ward, Level 1, DVH. Money raised through the Lollipop Fund helped to introduce a Children’s High Dependency Unit at Darent Valley Hospital, with a range of expensive specialist equipment to care for critically ill children. This means that we can now treat effectively and prevent some children having to be transferred to another hospital for specialist treatment, and save valuable time when dealing with serious diseases such as Meningitis. Most recently we have purchased an ultrasound to help guide accurate cannulation in children with hard-to-access veins, and a videolaryngoscope for precise lifesaving intubation. We have been able to purchase sensory equipment to help aid recovery, and play equipment for the Ward garden that is accessible for children of all abilities. Our Lollipop Fund benefits our children's services, including Willow Ward, the Children's Emergency Department and our Children's Resources Centre at Darent Valley Hospital, as well as our Paediatric Services at Queen Mary's in Sidcup. We have introduced overnight facilities for parents who wish to stay close to their poorly child. We have also been able to support Paediatric staff to deliver a calendar of events, such as Christmas and Easter activities, as well as outings for the various support groups; Epilepsy, Diabetes and Sickle Cell to name a few. We work closely with our Play Specialists to deliver projects that benefits a child's well-being, as well as investing in the latest equipment to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions.
