The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Darent Valley Hospital in Kent is a special place for us. It has cared for all three of our sons when they were very ill.

When my (Becky) first son Ethan was born prematurely, he spent ten days under the care of SCBU. Then my brother's (Matt) son Leo was born and was very poorly and had two stints in SCBU. Then my sister and Tony's son Xander also spent time in SCBU immediately after birth.

We all witnessed first hand just what an amazing job all the staff do, and always said we wanted to raise some money for the Little Buds Fund, which benefits the Unit.

Becky, Matt and Tony took on the 106km Isle of Wight coastal path Ultra Challenge, on 5th May 2018 and raised £3,945 for the Special Care Baby Unit

“We did it! In 24.51. It was hot and actually only around 65% of starters finished the full island challenge so we feel particularly proud! A lot of highs and a lot of lows, the last 10km of the 106km were particularly brutal on the feet! It was an incredible experience.
