On Friday 18th September Bexley and Sidcup Lions President Baldev Bahra, Club Secretary Gurdial Bharj, Past President Karamjit Matharu, and walker and donor Ramesh Sharma met socially distanced with Professor Madaan, Consultant Urological Surgeon & Lead Cancer Clinician, and Sally George, Head of Fundraising outside Darent Valley Hospital to present 2 cheques from their fundraising efforts during lockdown.

The Lions Club took part in the virtual Stride4Life sponsored walk event, with members arranging their own walks of 2 or 5 miles from their doorsteps, and raised a hugely impressive £1,000 for our Cancer Fighting Fund.

Inspired by the virtual event, they organised their own virtual walk in August and raised as further £1,200 for prostate cancer research, a cause close to their hearts having sadly lost a member to the disease years previously.

Professor Madaan passed on his thanks and on behalf of Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust for all the support the Bexley and Sidcup Lions has given our Cancer services over a number of years, and in particular most recently, managing to raise such significant amounts during the national lockdown. Sally George thanked them for this continued support of Valley Hospital Charity and helping to improve cancer care for our patients.
