Your support for our Little Buds Fund provides the very best care for babies born at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. Through your generosity we can support staff to deliver the best possible care to expectant mums, and their new babies, meaning most of our babies can be treated close to home.

Improved technology, medical advances and improved nursing expertise, enables staff on Walnut Ward, our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), to care for babies born with wide-ranging problems.  This can include those born prematurely, unwell or with breathing difficulties.  Some may just need an initial helping hand by tube feeding or light therapy for jaundice.

As always it is with thanks to little buds that the staff are able to create such beautiful & unique items for the families on the unit & we are very grateful.

  • vCreate Video messaging - parents of babies on Walnut Ward have been thrilled with the service which allows staff to record and send video messages of babies to their parents' secure account. They can access these video messages via smart phone, tablet or PC. The videos help keep parents reassured how baby is doing when they cannot be at the cot-side around the clock. To continue to use this valuable service for new parents we need to fundraise to pay for the licence each year.

  • Little Buds have helped to raise funds to purchase 10 new Neopuffs for the Special Care Baby Unit. This is vital equipment for the unit; with the additional purchases enabling us to have one in every cot space.

World Prematurity Day
